Basketball

Basketball is a fast-paced team sport in which two teams, typically consisting of five players each, compete to score points by shooting a ball through the opposing team’s hoop or basket. The game is played on a rectangular court with a hoop elevated at each end. Players can advance the ball by dribbling (bouncing the ball while running) or passing it to teammates. Points are scored by making field goals, which are worth two or three points depending on the distance from the basket, or by making free throws, which are worth one point each.

The objective of the game is to outscore the opposing team by accumulating more points within a set time limit, typically divided into quarters or halves. Basketball emphasizes skill, teamwork, strategy, and physical fitness. It is governed by specific rules that dictate gameplay, including fouls, violations, and acceptable conduct.

Basketball is played professionally at various levels, including high school, college, and professional leagues, with the NBA (National Basketball Association) being one of the most recognized professional leagues globally. It is also a popular recreational activity played by individuals and teams worldwide.
