Goya Awards

The Goya Awards are accolades presented annually by the Spanish Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences to recognize excellence in the Spanish film industry. Established in 1987, the awards are named after the famous Spanish painter Francisco de Goya. They are intended to honor outstanding achievements in filmmaking, including directing, acting, screenwriting, and various technical categories. The Goya Awards serve as a significant cultural event in Spain, celebrating the creativity and talent of Spanish filmmakers and actors while promoting Spanish cinema both nationally and internationally. Winners are selected through a voting process among members of the academy, highlighting artistic and technical accomplishments within the year’s films.
